Bike share consists of a network of bicycles shared in a community and encouraged for short-term use. Users check out a bike from any station, ride the bike, and return the bike to any of station in the system. Bike share is a relatively low cost transportation option that offers freedom and flexibility in getting where you need to go. Many cities around the world have invested in bike share and recognize its potential economic, environmental and social benefits.
Bike share is designed for short, point A to point B trips, while bike rentals are typically intended for longer, recreational rides.
Each bike is locked at a dock, where it can only be unlocked using a bike share key or ride code. The dock has a slot for the bike share key (for Monthly, Annual and Access Pass holders) and a keypad to enter a ride code (for Daily Pass holders). Each dock has a red, yellow, and green light indicator. A green light indicates the bike has been locked or unlocked successfully. A yellow light means the locking mechanism is still working. Finally, a red light indicates the bike did not lock properly and must be tried again. Additionally, a red light can indicate a broken bike that cannot be unlocked or used.
Bike share is perfect for short distance trips around town. Riders use bike share to get to work, school, and to access other forms of transportation such as bus and rail. Bike share is also ideal for running errands, going to appointments or meeting up with friends. Others use bike share for exercise or simply exploring the city.
Bike share is useful even if you have your own bike. Perfect for short, one-way trips, bike share can be used when you don’t have your bike with you. Worried about finding bike parking or your bike being stolen? Bike share helps get you where you need to go without being concerned about the security of your personal bike. There’s no need to carry your bike lock with you, and bike share spares your bike from wear and tear.
MoGo has 620 bikes located at 75 stations in six Metro Detroit cities. See the Station Map for all bike station locations.
MoGo is a fun, flexible and convenient way to get around Metro Detroit. Buy one of our Passes to gain access to hundreds of bikes in six Metro Detroit cities. Check out a bike from any one of the stations, ride it, and return the bike to any other station in the system. A trip ends when the bike is securely locked in any MoGo station and the green light illuminates.

Any business or organization can participate and provide discounted annual MoGo passes to their employees or members. This includes, but is not limited to, businesses of all sizes, community organizations, block clubs, service and faith organizations, and social clubs.
Organizations participating in the 1st Gear contribution level must purchase at least 100 passes. For Gear 2 and 3 we require a minimum of at least two employees. For Gear 4, there is no minimum requirement.
MoGo provides monthly reports to companies and organizations participating in the 3rd Gear level or higher. Reports include the names of employees or members enrolled in the program as well as the number of trips taken. Additionally, MoGo provides a more detailed report at the end of each calendar year with statistics such as number of miles traveled, calories burned, and even your company’s carbon offset!
Once a participant signs up for an annual MoGo pass using the Corporate & Community Pass discount, they will have access to the pass for the full year, even if they are terminated or leave the organization before the pass expires. Organizations will not receive a refund, prorated amount, or be able to transfer a pass to another employee or member if a participant leaves.
The Corporate & Community Pass Agreement doesn’t need to be renewed or updated unless your business or organization would like to make a change to the contribution level or discontinue participation in the program. When an employee or member signs up through the Corporate & Community Pass Program, his/her pass is good for one year from the day of sign up. If a business or organization decides to end its participation in the program, any pass created during the time the discount was offered will remain valid until the end of the year along with any overage fees.
If an employee or member has a pre-existing pass with MoGo, he/she will have to “ride” out the rest of their membership before being added to the Corporate & Community Pass discount. Once the term limit of the user’s pass expires, he/she can renew with your business or organization. We don’t offer reimbursement or prorated discounts to employees or members that already have their own MoGo pass.
Due to our liability policy, we cannot issue passes to an organization. Each pass that is issued under the Corporate & Community Pass Program must be assigned to a specific individual.
A MoGo bike can be checked out at any time. Our fleet of bikes is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
Yes! Once you complete the Corporate & Community Pass enrollment form, we’ll provide every participating organization with a email and information explaining what MoGo is and how individuals can sign up for discounted passes.
We schedule in-office visits and sign-up events for organizations that enroll in the 3rd Gear level or higher. During the event, we’ll distribute information and participants can sign-up on the spot, which will allow them to walk away with a MoGo pass and start riding! We’re happy to schedule an event for your organization as soon as the enrollment form is completed.
Once an organization signs up for the Corporate & Community Pass Program, we will provide a unique link for you to distribute to your employees or members. For organizations participating in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Gear levels, all users will also have to provide personal payment information. This information will only be used to cover any additional pass costs or fees (if applicable).

For individuals who can ride independently on an adaptive cycle, but are accompanied by a guardian, Wheelhouse Detroit will have a Free Daily MoGo pass for this person to check out a two-wheeled MoGo bike at one of the nearby stations (Atwater & Orleans or Ren Cen & Riverwalk). For service dogs, Adaptive MoGo offers a front-loading trailer tricycle which would can accommodate a service dog. The rider, however, must be able to operate a tricycle independently.
Yes. MoGo partnered with Programs to Educate All Cyclists (PEAC), a non-profit organization that empowers individuals with disabilities through cycling and active transportation, for the selection of the adaptive cycles and multiple trainings of the entire staff.
Please do not leave the adaptive cycle unattended at any time. If the cycle breaks down, please call our local MoGo customer service team at (313) 434-8188 and explain the situation. One of the MoGo vans will be able to pick up the cycle. However, we CANNOT pick up riders. If you are reaching the end of your two hour ride limit, please call Wheelhouse Detroit at (313) 656-2453 to inform the staff of the situation.
If you are a new MoGo user, you'll need to sign up here. Enter the required information, including a credit or debit card. You will not be charged for the cost of the pass. A credit card is needed to complete the sign up process and is only charged in the event of overage fees, which happens when you ride for longer than 60 minutes in a single trip. While no form of transportation is risk-free, bike share has been designed with safety in mind. Our upright, cruiser-style bikes are built to be both durable and comfortable. Each bike has a bell, self-powered LED lights on the front basket and in the rear of the bike, and several reflectors to make sure it is easily seen by other people driving, walking or riding. When riding MoGo, riders should stay alert to your surroundings - don’t ride with headphones. We strongly encourage all riders to wear a helmet to reduce the risk of head injury in the event of an crash.
Cyclists under the age of 18 must wear a helmet while riding. Although adults 18 years and older are not required by law to wear a helmet, all riders should wear a helmet to reduce the risk of head injury in case of an accident.
Here are a few tips to stay safe while riding: ride with traffic, obey all traffic signs and signals, yield to pedestrians, stay off sidewalks, never ride distracted, use hand signals, and avoid streetcar rails. If you need to cross the rails, cross at a 90-degree angle.
MoGo riders may ride on streets, in bike lanes, and on greenways throughout Detroit. We discourage riders from using MoGo on sidewalks, as this increases the risk of crashes at intersections and can pose safety issues for pedestrians.
Adjust the seat for your height, press the brakes to gauge resistance, and check that the tires are inflated. Do not try to ride a MoGo bike that appears appears damaged or out of order.
Once you’ve entered the correct ride code on the keypad on the dock and the green light does not appear, your ride code may not work because:
Return the bike to the closest dock and press the red 'wrench' button. A red light appears on the dock, so no other rider can use it until it is fixed by a technician. Riders often turn the seat backwards, so other riders can see that the bike is broken and not available for use.
Your MoGo card or fob may not work because:
If there is a bike in the dock, it means the bike is broken and cannot be checked out. If there is no bike in the dock, it means there is a problem with the dock. It will not accept a bike return. If you're returning a bike and receive a red light, it means the bike did not lock properly.
If you do not receive a green light when attempting to lock your bike at a station, please try these steps:
Find available bikes and docking points on the Transit app or the station map.
Riders are responsible for their bikes from the time they unlock them from a dock until they successfully lock them in any MoGo station at the end of a trip. If your bicycle is stolen while it is checked out, file a police report by calling the Detroit Police at 313-267-4600. Call MoGo’s Customer Service at 888-MoGo-123. Riders may be responsible for the fee of recovery or replace of the bike.
Call 911 immediately if you are injured. Call the police precinct where the crash occurred, and file a report with a police officer to document all important information. Riders must also contact MoGo within 24 hours by contacting Customer Service at (888) MoGo-123. Tell the representative all of the facts of the incident. Please note that the bike is still your responsibility until it is securely locked in a MoGo station. If you are unable to return your bike, contact Customer Service and a MoGo team member will come and help you.
If you are at a station with a touch screen, tap 'I have a pass,' insert your credit card, then tap 'Time Credit' to receive an additional 15 minutes on your trip so you can proceed to another station. The 'Time Credit' option will only illuminate if the station is full. Do not leave your bike unlocked or unattended next to a station.
If you are at a station with no touch screen, please call (888) MoGo-123 so our Customer Service team can add 15 minutes to your trip.
